Dear Brethren at Sebring Parkway:

Please allow me a few minutes to introduce you to an opportunity to advance the gospel of Christ in Ukraine.  You are receiving this information because you know Betty and me and our work for the Lord over the years.

Dmitry (Dema) Galook and Vladimir (Vovo) Shoot have served as evangelists in Chernovtsy, Ukraine (300 miles southwest of Kiev) since June 2000.  Posted on the bulletin board in the lobby is a letter from the church in Chernovtsy and an article about these brethren.

They have purchased land to build a meeting place on in the immediate future.  Since you know us, I must speak very openly about the financial arrangements to assist these brethren.  Betty and I are prepared to borrow the needed funds to construct this building because delaying will just add more to the cost.  I estimate the cost will be about $100,000.  We have already loaned the “Chernovtsy Building Fund” $30,000 to purchase the land and related expenses.  The brethren in Chernovtsy have a building fund of about $US500!  Now, additional funds will be borrowed on our home equity account, if needed.  We are prepared to delay our retirement to see this through financially.  The borrowed money will be repaid to us from contributions to the Chernovtsy building fund.

We invite you to become a part of this work for the Lord in western Ukraine.  This building/tool will assist the work to become more established and serve as a focal point for mission work in that part of the country.  The Sebring Parkway church eldership (3800 Sebring Parkway, Sebring, FL  33870) will handle all the funds received into the “Chernovtsy Building Fund” and will provide a full account of the same.

On a personal note, we have full confidence in Dema, Anna and daughter, Slava, Vovo, and Tanya, and their commitment to the Lord’s work.  Betty and I were in Chernovtsy in 2002 and 2004.  We will be glad to answer any questions: 9240 Fruitdale Ct., Sebring, FL  33875-9444; phone: 863/385-7637; email: parkerfb@strato.net.  They and we covet your prayers in this endeavor.  Please share this information with others who might be interested in such an opportunity.

In brotherly love,

Frank Parker

Youth News

Winter Camp News

A group of 4 teens attended Winter Camp at Florida Bible Camp last weekend.  There were approximately 60 campers from around the state. The camp’s theme was Characters with Character. We are very proud of our group and the way they demonstrated their character this weekend.

  • Troy Talbert took an active roll by leading prayer during classes and at mealtime.

  • Anastasia Stalter and friend Brittanie received awards for courage for actively participating when they were placed in a cabin with the junior and senior girls.

  • James Ware received an award for self-sacrifice. James was also instrumental in studying with another camper. The camper decided to dedicate his life to Christ and asked James to perform the baptism.

It is pleasing to know that our youth, though small in number, are able to display the character that all ages continue to work towards.  Please continue to encourage our teens and Chris and Tracey as they work with the youth.

Youth & Family Devotional

All 7th – 12th grade students and their parents are invited to Chris and Julie Fowler’s home on Saturday, February 5 at 6:30 for a devotional, brainstorming session, and dessert. (Please, no children younger than 7th grade.) Please let Chris or Julie know if you plan to attend.

Forms Needed

Everyone is asked to fill out and turned in an Involvement Questionnaire.  This will help with areas that need assistance.  If you have any questions about the form please see Bryan or Teresa.  The forms are located on a table in the foyer.  There is a basket in which to place the completed forms.

Congratulations

Shannon Gibbs competed in a gymnastics competition in which she placed 3rd in floor exercise, 4th in Balance Beam, and a 7th place finish in all around.  Congratulations and keep up the good work Shannon.

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
      (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
      preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be
      condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written
in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
     (Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region
of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works
      befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father
who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the
word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"
     (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven
and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the
     age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling
on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).
