SEBRING PARKWAY CHURCH OF CHRIST

January 16th, 2005 3800 Sebring Parkway   -   Sebring, FL 33870   -   Phone: (863) 385-7443

Dear folks,
I was asked to put together a team for Sri Lanka tsunami disaster relief. This all came together within the past two days. We depart Saturday morning the Jan. 8th and return on the 18th.

We have permission from the Sri Lankan government to work in a mobile clinic in the tsunami disaster area along Sri Lanka’s southern coast. We are taking medicines and hope to receive a shipment of supplies sent by USAid through the US government. The organization Healing Hands International, a relief agency affiliated with the churches of Christ (www.hhi-aid.org) has purchased our airline tickets ($7000) and bought medicines for us to distribute ($5000). The Estes church of Christ advanced us ($8000) for supplies and expenses.

The total needed for this trip so far is $20,000. You may make contributions to reimburse Healing Hands International or the Estes church of Christ:

Dear friend,
Thank you so much for your concern in helping the needy people of India in such a desperate time.  We have a personal Indian missionary, Bro Robert Hall, that has been working with Ron Clayton in the Indian area for many years now.  They are already set up to help the many people in Indian and adjoining areas with relief..

Tanner Church of Christ is sponsoring a relief effort through our mission work in India with them.  The following information will assist you in making your donation.

All donations given will be used for aiding our Indian brothers and sisters in recovering from the effects of the devastating tsunami. None of the funds will be used for administrative cost whatsoever.

As you must be aware, that almost every family in the area of the disaster has been effected with this in one way or another. Most have lost their loved ones, homes, belongings, food sources, and clean water.

If you can make a donation to this cause, please make your check payable to: Tanner Church of Christ and earmark it "Indian Disaster Relief" on the note line of your check.

Then mail it to:

We are receiving information daily on the suffering of Christian brothers and sisters by Tsunami Tidal Waves the following two emails have been received from Carl Adkins and The Barbers.  The Barbers know Bonthu and the work being done in that area.  Please keep all the relief efforts for those affected in your prayers.

Thank you for your inquiry concerning the sending of aid to Southeast Asia.  We do plan to send aid.

Healing Hands International (HHI) has been in contact with church of Christ missionaries and contacts in Thailand and India.  Attempts to reach contacts in Sri Lanka have thus far been unsuccessful.  A representative of ours, who happen to have been in Cambodia, is going to Sri Lanka and Indonesia.  Contacts have been requested to project needs within their locale, both immediate and from a period six weeks out.

We look to wire funds to address immediate needs in those areas where supplies are readily available.  We are trying to arrange for shipping via air to assist in providing immediate needs in areas where supplies are unavailable.  However, we must also look at the longer term.  Relief supplies sent via cargo ship will take a minimum of six weeks to get there.  These might be in the form of medical supplies/medicines, food/water and/or building supplies.

Distribution of all relief supplies will be done through the local church of Christ.  The amount and duration dependent on amount of funding assistance we receive.  We look for this to become a long-term project.

Again, thank you for your inquiry.

New Year Greetings to you all.

Wires and Telephone calls have been receiving from the members of Churches of Christ that suffered by the Tsunami Tidal Waves in our neighboring State known as Tamilnadu.  I, Dhanaraju Bonthu was well known to all the southern States in India through the T.V. telecast program that sponsored by one of the Elders of Columbus Church of Christ, Columbus, Miss., Bro. Barry Sanford for a period of two and half years.  Now the members of Churches of Christ have known to me that sent an appeal through by wires and through telephone calls if we can do some kind of assistance by providing blankets, clothes, utensils, food rice, medicines and rebuilding their collapsed houses and Churches that situated in the sea coast line cities, Caddalore and Nagapatnam that located very closer to Chennai ( Madras).

I, Dhanaraju Bonthu can speak the neighboring  State language known as Tamil since I have worked in Chennai (Madras) capital some several years back while I was in the Government service.  Hence it is an opportunity for me to do some service at least to our Christian brethren and Sisters who suffered by Tsunami Tidal Waves.  I therefore request the brethren and Sisters in U.S.A. and in Canada for joining with me where we can do some kind of help as much as we can.

The nature is under God’s control and we cannot change any disaster that comes upon the people in any part of the world.

Bro. John Tucker one of the elders of our present sponsoring Church in Plainwell Church of Christ, 911 James St., Plainwell, Michigan-49080, U.S.A. who was scheduled to go over to India for three weeks from February 17th, 2005 with his team Bro. David Cushman and his daughter Jaimi Cushman and who can over see the flood relief work if the contributors can gives an instructions for a survey of the Tsunami affected areas will be very fine. Bro. John Tucker Telephone No. 269-382-5091 and his Cell No. 269-998-8566.

Thank you very much for praying and for  inquiring the situation of the affected flood victims in India.

Yours in Christian Love,

 (Dhanaraju Bonthu).

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
      (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
      preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be
      condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written
in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
     (Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region
of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works
      befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father
who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the
word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"
     (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven
and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the
     age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling
on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).
