Are You Busy Enough?

When God wants a servant, He calls a busy person. When God called:

Moses was busy with his flock at Horeb.

Gideon was busy thrashing wheat by the winepress.

Saul was busy searching for his father's lost sheep.

David was busy caring for his father's sheep.

Elisha was busy plowing with 12 yoke of oxen.

Nehemiah was busy as the king's cupbearer.

Amos was busy following the flock.

James and John were busy mending their fishing nets.

Matthew was busy collecting customs.

Saul was busy persecuting the friends of Jesus.

Are you busy enough for God to use?

TIDAL WAVE DISASTER

We have all been deeply affected by the earthquake and tidal wave that have brought disaster to more than ten countries in Asia and Africa.  It has been estimated more than 150,000 people may die as a result of this tragedy.  This kind of event helps to remind us of the fragile nature of life and the importance of preparing for eternity.

Of course, those most affected have been those living in the devastated countries.  Brethren have written to ask what can be done to help with relief efforts.  I am giving a list of email addresses for brethren in some of these countries.  They can then point you in the right direction to help.

These brethren should be able to give you some direction for helping.  Please continue to remember in prayer those affected and our brethren in these various countries.  There are others who are also making preparations to help.  If you know of other sound efforts, please feel free to use them.

What’s Happening This Week!!

Tonight at 6:00 pm, we will have our monthly singing night.  Men please pick out one song you would like to lead.  If you are more comfortable reading a Scripture or leading a prayer, you can do that instead of leading a song.

Tuesday, Ladies Class at 10:00, We will have our 2nd lesson out of Leading Ladies, Willing Hearts, Willing Hands. It is entitled Oil and Water? and will be taught by Laura Ware.

Wednesday at 7:00 pm, Mid-week services.

Thursday 9:00 - 11:00 am, Clothing Give-away. Thank you to all who help us with the clothing/household give-away.  This outreach only works because of loving and caring individuals like you.  This is such a rewarding opportunity, please sign up or come the day of the give away if you would like to help.  There are plenty of things to do.

Friday at 5:30 pm, the CEO will be eating at Savannah’s.  The January Schedule is posted on the back bulletin board.

Calling Tree Information

We are currently working on a calling tree format that will get everyone contacted regarding important church news.  Currently if you receive a call regarding church information you are to call the person after your name in the directory and pass this information on to them.  If they are not at home, call the next person on the list until you reach someone.  Make sure when you tell them the information remind them to call the next person after their name to pass this information on.  If you have to skip someone because they are not at home, please call them until you get them, tell them the information, and tell them you already called the person after their name.  If you have any questions about this, please see Della or Teresa.  If you have important church news that needs to get out immediately please call Teresa or Della to make sure the calling tree gets started and that emails can also be sent.  Not everyone has email so we need to use both of these methods.  Please bear with us as we work out the flaws.  It is very important that the calling tree does not stop along the way, please make sure to make your call.

Relaxing Cruise

Enjoy a relaxing cruise and the magic Peace River yields as you glide under the heavy branches that reach toward the distant shore.  Thick with tropical air plants and the blooms of wild bromeliads.  This relaxing vessel, The Navigator, will only hold 44 passengers, so sign-up today to reserve your seat and your grouper sandwich. Any questions, please see Bill Sweeton.

Sympathy

We were saddened by the passing of Kaye Fraley this past week.  Her funeral was Saturday with burial to be Monday at Bushnell.  The floral arrangement in front of the podium is in her memory.

Important Ladies Information

On Tuesday, January 18th, we will have a work day after ladies class to finish the craft projects for Ladies day.  Please attend class that day, bring a bag lunch, and plan to stay afterwards to help get these crafts done.  Ladies day is less than a month away.  We need all the help we can get to finish these tasks and help make this year’s ladies day a memorable one.  There are flyers on the tables in the foyer for you to invite friends, neighbors and family to our annual ladies day.  This year remember our theme is God Bless America.  Please plan on attending and inviting others to attend.

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
      (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they
believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a
      preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be
      condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written
in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
     (Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region
of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works
      befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father
who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the
word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"
     (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven
and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the
     age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling
on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).
