For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!

Romans 10: 12 - 15

DADDY'S EMPTY CHAIR

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father.   When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows.  An empty chair sat beside his bed. The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.  "I guess you were expecting me, he said.  'No, who are you?" said the father.

The minister told him his name and then remarked, “I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew I was going to show up.”  “Oh yeah, the chair,” said the bedridden man.  “Would you mind closing the door?”  Puzzled, the minister shut the door.  “I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter,” said the man.

“But, all of my life, I have never known how to pray.  At church I used to hear preacher talk about prayer, but it went right over my head. I abandoned any attempt at prayer,” the old man continued, “until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me, Johnny, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus.”

“Here is what I suggest. Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair.  It's not spooky because He promised; ‘I will be with you always.’  Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now.”  “So, I tried it and I’ve liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day.  I'm careful, though, if my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.”

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey.  Then he prayed with him, and returned to the church.  Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon.  “Did he die in peace,” he asked?  “Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek.  When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead.  But there was something strange about his death.  Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed.  What do you make of that?”  The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said,  “I wish we could all go like that.”

Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me. The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

There was a little old lady, who was very spiritual, who would step out on her porch every day, raise her arms to the sky and yell, “Praise the Lord.”

An atheist bought the house next door to her, and he became very irritated with the spiritual lady. So after a month or so of her yelling, “Praise the Lord” from her porch, he went outside on his porch and yelled back, “There is no Lord.”

Yet, the little old lady continued. One cold, wintry day, when she couldn't get to the store, she went out on her porch, raised her hands up to the sky and said, “Help me Lord, I have no more money, it's cold, and I have no more food.”

The next morning, she went outside, and there were three bags of food on the porch, enough to last her a week. “Praise the Lord,” she yelled.

The Atheist stepped out from behind the bushes and said, “There is no Lord, ha, ha, ha, I bought those groceries for you!”

The little old lady raised her arms to the sky and said, “Praise the Lord, you sent me groceries and you made the Devil pay for them!”

Thank you

A special thank you to all those who helped make our Under The Big Top such a special night.  Thank you to all those who supplied food, worked a food or game booth, those who provided entertainment, our MC for the night, those who set up and tore down booths, those who cleaned up, the planning committee and many, many more who helped.  We had an excellent turn out and all had a great time.  If you would like to be on planning committees for upcoming activities, we would love to have your suggestions and help, Just see Amy Horton and let her know you would like to be a part of the committees for activities.  We always need suggestions for future activities and those willing to help plan and organize these events.

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
(Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).
