SEBRING PARKWAY CHURCH OF CHRIST

October 24th, 2004 3800 Sebring Parkway   -   Sebring, FL 33870   -   Phone: (863) 385-7443

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

Matthew 5: 43 - 48

MEMO FROM GOD

To:               YOU

Date:            TODAY

From:           THE BOSS

Subject:        YOURSELF

Reference:  LIFE

I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help.

If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it.  Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don't despair. There are people in this world for which driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; Think of the person who has never known what it's like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down leaving you miles away from assistance; Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; Remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Should you decide to pass this to a friend; Thank you, you may have touched their life in ways you will never know!

F.Y.I

Several have asked for websites to check out movies and etc. for language and content.  Below are some good sites:

www.christiananswers.net/spotlight/ (on this site you can check on movies, TV shows and games)

www.movieguide.org

www.screenit.com

Later, I hope to give you websites to check out music.

Thank You!

We would like to thank everyone for all the cards, messages, calls, and most of all, the prayers.  As a result of the hand surgery that I had in Sebring, I had to have my fifth finger amputated, damage was done to the ulnar nerve, and my thumb and first finger became arthritic (due to damage).  My ring finger is still curled; therefore, my right hand is essentially useless-and of course, I’m very right-handed.

But, on a brighter note, medication is helping control the severe pain and I have a very helpful, supportive spouse!  We do hope to see all of you in December (after we watch some of our college granddaughter’s basketball games).

Love to All and God Bless You,

June Klahn

Thank You So Much!!

Where do we begin to thank you all for your support, help, and prayers during this difficult time for us?  We are unsure when we will be able to move back into our house in Jackson Heights.  For this reason we are planning to have our mail sent to the house where we will be staying.  The address is:

1034 E. Cornell St.
Avon Park, FL  33825

(this is on the Northeast side of Lake Lotela)

We are not sure how we are going to be able to handle the phone situation, yet.  Please do not hesitate to stop by and visit with us.  We are thankful that no one was seriously hurt and material things can be replaced.  We are also thankful for such a wonderful congregation; we could not make it through difficult times without the love and support of brothers and sisters in Christ.   What a wonderful town we also live in, when Philip’s schoolteacher came on Wednesday and helped us move things and pack I was amazed.  But, was even more amazed when a gentleman who has been visiting from Oklahoma, Kevin came and helped move things all day on Thursday before leaving to go back home this weekend.  You all are a great group of Christians and we love each and every one of you.  Thank you!

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
(Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).
