“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 4: 14 - 16

God Is Like . . .

A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials, and see if they could use them in some way to communicate ideas about God.  Here are some of the results:

God is like...
BAYER ASPIRIN
He works miracles.

 God is like...
A FORD
He's got a better idea.

 God is like...
COKE
He's the real thing.

 God is like...
HALLMARK CARDS
He cares enough to send His very best.

 God is like...
TIDE
He gets the stains out that others leave behind.

God is like...
GENERAL ELECTRIC
He brings good things to life.

God is like...
SEARS
He has everything.

God is like...
ALKA-SELTZER!
Try him, you'll like Him.

God is like...
SCOTCH TAPE
You can't see him, but you know He's there.

God is like...
DELTA
He's ready when you are.

 God is like...
ALLSTATE
You're in good hands with Him.

God is like...
VO-5! Hair Spray
He holds through all kinds of weather.

God is like...
DIAL SOAP
Aren't you glad you have Him? Don't you wish everybody did?

God is like...

Thanks to All of You…

We want to thank you for the beautiful flowers, all the calls, the sympathy cards, as well as the get-well cards.  It helps so much to know so many are concerned and really care even though we are miles away.

Ernie has a good report from the doctor this week.  His x-ray looked good; so he can begin to put a little weight on that foot, 20 pounds, then gradually increase.  He has to go back in 3 weeks, hopefully he will then get the all-clear to resume walking, with no aids.

Our daughter is doing as good as can be expected, but she says it is hard.  Since he was a truck driver and gone quite a bit, she was used to staying by herself a lot, so I think that has been a big help for her.

We are planning on coming down later this year, probably after the holidays.  It will be nice to see you all again.

Love to All,

Mary Jane Zink

2-Day Give Away

October 29th and 30th we will have a large 2-day give away in the Fellowship Room and Hallway.  Set up will take place on Thursday from 9:00 am till we finish.  We have a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the hallway for those who can come and help for a 2 hour shift during the give away.

We helped 19 this week with the Thursday Give-away.  We have some special needs:

Men’s pants size 30 waist 32 length, these are for a cancer patient.  His wife is also in need of bladder control items.  Please see Teresa if you can help.

We still have hurricane victims that need household items.  Carolyn and Teresa delivered a donated couch to a hurricane victim and what a sad story they can tell you.  There are many in need.  Please see Teresa for items needed.

We are also in need of children’s clothing, all sizes.  We have very little children’s clothing and have a high need.

HEAR

But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" (Luke 11: 28).

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10: 14).

BELIEVE

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16: 16).

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name (John 20: 30).

REPENT

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
(Acts 2: 38).

"…but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance (Acts 26: 20).

CONFESS

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 10: 32).

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10: 8 - 9).

BE BAPTIZED

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen (Matthew 28: 18 - 20).

"And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22: 16).

FROM ONE "PUMPKIN" TO ANOTHER!!

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for the entire world to see...
