OPPORTUNITIES
What
do you do when the Lord blesses you?
A few weeks ago when we made the announcement that we
were purchasing the back half of the property and building
next door. We
received some interesting suggestions as to what could be done
with the building. Several
of these suggestions are gaining momentum and foundation.
The
primary purpose of the
land would most likely be to expand parking in the future
should we need to expand our current facilities into our
present parking lot. The
following are elaborations on some of the suggestions for the
use of the building.
Clothing
Mission:
It has been suggested that we move our clothing give
away missions to the building.
Currently, two of our classrooms in the educational
wing are being used for this purpose. Each week, clothing racks, boxes of clothing, tables, etc.
have to be moved into the hallway and then returned to be
stored. It has
been suggested that if the clothing could be moved to a
portion of the building, this would be avoided.
This would also help with processing the clothing being
received. On
average, 15-20 people are helped weekly by this mission, thus
exposing themselves to the Lord’s church.
This gives us an opportunity to reach out to the
community and share the Lord’s words, love and wealth.
Have
you ever said: “I sure
hate to throw this away.”
“Maybe someone else could use it.”
A number of people have suggested that we need a place
where “almost new” furniture and appliances could be
donated and/or repaired.
Some of our more “technically” talented have
suggested that some items could be repaired (if needed) and
could be available for those who might have a need.
This would add a new dimension to our clothing mission.
It might well be a place where discarded or outgrown
toys might be stored until they can find a needy child to
entertain.
Storage:
We can finally have a place to store festival materials, maybe
without having to completely disassemble them.
(What do you think Doc?)
There are probably a few more items that could be moved
from useful space.
